"A Great Adventure Is About To Begin" - Winnie the Pooh | Gretchen Elaine Photography Maternity

Photographing maternity sessions, I have gotten many questions about posing and preparing for the session itself. It’s no secret that a lot of people get nervous being in front of the camera while other seem so natural posing. I have a few tricks posing my couples and usually after going through the motions, everyone loosens up and have a good time.

Most of the poses I use are the same for posing couples for an engagement or couples session. I keep them facing toward each other or myself, have them looking at each other and the camera, and just get all snuggled up nice and close. There is nothing better than cozy couple photos!

The big difference with maternity photos is featuring the baby bump. Not all of my photos feature the bump though. I like to show the emotion and love between the couple in some special moments. The majority of the session, Mom and Dad cradle the baby bump while looking towards each other, kissing, or smiling at the camera.
